Summer 2021 New Releases

Bullfrog Communities

Bullfrog Communities, a project of Bullfrog Films, is thrilled to announce the availability of major award-winning summer releases for virtual or in-person community and campus-wide screenings. This summer, our new releases include documentaries about...

THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY & PEACE

THE THIRD HARMONY draws on interviews with the likes of veteran activists, behavioral scientists, political scientists, and congresspeople to create an in depth look at how nonviolence is a key fundamental in the wider struggle to develop a "new story" of human nature; WE ARE THE RADICAL MONARCHS follows a unique scout troop of young women in Oakland, Calif. who together battle racism, misogyny and homophobia while affirming their own value as young women of color; and CONNECTIVITY PROJECT highlights different cultures and traditions around the world embracing the importance of interconnectedness, inspiring viewers to consider their own agency and responsibility to impact change.

BOUNDARY-BREAKING WOMEN

A FINE LINE interviews and examines the female experience in the restaurant industry, exploring how discrimination affects their chances in a largely male-drive environment; NO TIME TO WASTE is a touching documentary about Betty Reid Soskin, from her experiences in a segregated Union hall and WWII factory to activist, mother, legislative representative and now park ranger at Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park, where she illuminates the invisible histories of people of color by sharing her story as a Black woman who lived it.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

INTO THE CANYON follows the incredible journey of Pete McBride and Kevin Fedarko on their 750-mile hike through the entire length of the Grand Canyon, serving both as an urgent warning about the environmental dangers that are placing one of America's greatest monuments in peril and as a cautionary tale for our complex relationship with the natural world; ENTANGLED chronicles the efforts to protect North Atlantic right whales from extinction, the impacts of those efforts on the lobster industry, and how the National Marine Fisheries Service has struggled to balance the vying interests; POINT OF NO RETURN takes viewers behind the headlines of the first solar-powered flight around the world, where two courageous pilots take turns battling nature, their own crew, and sometimes logic itself, to achieve the impossible; NO FEAR NO FAVOR illuminates the wrenching choices faced by those who live where community meets wilderness — on the front lines of Africa's poaching crisis.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

ORCHESTRATING CHANGE follow the inspiring story of the Me2/Orchestra, addressing the stigma attached to mental illness by showing what living with a mental illness is really like — with both setbacks and accomplishments.

These films are available both virtually and for in-person events. For more information on booking a virtual screening right now, please go to Bullfrog Communities Streaming.

Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Nature Documentary
Grand Prize, Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival
Best Feature, Banff Mountain Film Festival
Director's Award, Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival
"Engages viewers with mind-blowing images that highlight both the canyon's massive scale - there are expanses of striated redrock stretching to the horizon, the Colorado a narrow ribbon of silver far below the rim - and its micro environment."
Cindy Hirschfeld, Sierra Club Magazine
"Stunningly beautiful...We rejoice with the completion of the difficult task, but perhaps more importantly, we come away with an awareness of how we must protect our national parks from further development and destruction. Viewers interested in both environmental concerns and hiking experiences will enjoy this beautifully shot, thoughtful production."

National Broadcast on PBS's "POV"
Best Documentary, Seattle International Film Festival
DOC NYC

"Uplifting...Timely...Most impressive are the girls themselves. Over three years, the girls grow from curious pre-tweens to experienced social justice activists. If movements are judged by embodying the change they seek, the first generation of Radical Monarchs is a heartening success."

Kevin Crust, Los Angeles Times
"Whether they are clenching their fists high up in the air at a Trans Lives Matter march or wearing their brown berets and vests showcasing colorful badges like 'Black Lives Matter' and 'Radical Beauty,' the documentary offers real hope about a future generation of fierce Brown and Black girls ready to put in the work to make social justice more than just a dream."
Luis Luna, Latino Rebels

It reminds us that effective conservation requires participation and ownership in the local communities."
Muna Ndulo, Professor, International and Comparative Law, Director, Berger International Studies Program, Cornell University

ORCHESTRATING CHANGE
The inspiring story of Me2/Orchestra, the only orchestra in the world created by and for people living with mental illness and those who support them.
Berkshire International Film Festival
Newport Beach International Film Festival
"To the performers in the Me2/Orchestra, Mr. Braunstein is much more than a conductor. He's a friend and a mentor, as well as a living example of what can happen when a person with mental illness is accepted unconditionally and treated with dignity and respect."
Jane E. Brody, Personal Health Columnist, The New York Times
"Ronald Braunstein's vision of creating an ensemble for people learning to live creatively with their mental health, playing music alongside those who work with them, is captured clearly and presented inspiringly. Music is such a powerful art form, and is here employed for positive change in those who participate in its making as well as those who listen. We are challenged in this film to change our minds in order to change our world, viewing one another with insight and deeper compassion."
Delta David Grier, Music Director, South Dakota Symphony
