ORGANIZATIONS

The Oil Machine Discussion Guide - On the film's official website, find even more great resources that supplement your screening. This discussion guide will help your community screening be as successful as possible, including pre-and-post-screening instructions, discussion principles, and suggested topics/questions.

Just Transition Partnership - They share a concern that plans for a Just Transition – one to a modern zero-carbon economy in ways which protect workers’ livelihoods, create a new industrial base, and deliver a fairer Scotland – so far have not been ambitious enough and that progress has been slow except regarding on-shore wind. It is necessary to confront the danger of losing a large part of the industrial base as employment in traditional sectors declines. Workers, if losing their job in these sectors, should be able to redeploy to new sectors and opportunities for retraining must be expanded. Action is urgently needed to avert the climate crisis and to re-balance the economy to one which provides enough decent jobs making things in clean ways.

#StopCambo - The #StopCambo campaign is made up of individuals, grassroots groups and organizations across Scotland, the rest of UK and the world who are dedicated to ending all new oil and gas extraction and bringing existing production within safe climate limits. The campaign started in 2021 to fight the Cambo oil field and has expanded to take on all new fields in the UK, specifically focusing on Shell's Jackdaw gas field and Equinor's Rosebank oil field.

UK Divest - Across the UK, local grassroots groups are demanding our communities and public institutions to cut their political, social and financial ties to the fossil fuel industry. Supporting this network is UK Divest, a collaboration between Friends of the Earth, Friends of the Earth Scotland and Platform and various partners leading in different areas of the divestment movement.

Make My Money Matter - Make My Money Matter works to transform the financial system, so it puts people and planet on a par with profit. There are trillions of pounds in UK pensions and banks – they believe that money should be moved from the destructive, harmful investments of the past, into those which help build a future we can be proud of.

ShareAction - Their vision is a world where the financial system serves our planet and its people. They work to define the highest standards for responsible investment and to drive change until these standards are adopted worldwide.

Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN) - SCCAN is a volunteer-led network with membership open to any community group across Scotland that is taking action on the climate crisis and to any organization that is involved with or supports such community-led action.

European Climate Foundation - Climate change is a problem that affects us all, and therefore it is a problem for us to solve together. Politicians have to do their part, but so do financial institutions, businesses, private investors, and citizens. The ECF plays a vital role in supporting this crucial societal consensus and enabling forward-thinking solutions. They are not an institution, but rather a network of hundreds of organizations devoted to solving the climate crisis from every angle.

Climate Breakthrough - They provide large, multi-year, unrestricted awards to help empower promising leaders with powerful, high-risk, high-reward innovations in the climate space. They fund extraordinary individuals and small teams, not institutions or organizations, and they allow them to step beyond their typical past work in order to consider and develop the most ambitious strategies they can execute.

Climate Justice Coalition - The Climate Justice Coalition is a UK-based coalition of groups and individuals to build solidarity and power around Climate Justice and Global Solidarity. Coalition members include environment and development NGOs, trade unions, grassroots community campaigns, faith groups, youth groups, migrant and racial justice networks – to name a few.

Oceankind - Oceankind’s mission is to improve the health of global ocean ecosystems while supporting the livelihoods of people who rely on them. They seek to advance the policy, science, and technology necessary to reverse the growing threats facing our oceans.

High Tide Foundation - The mission of High Tide Foundation is to have a significant, measurable impact on climate change through the monitoring, mitigation, and regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. They intend for our funding to be catalytic; it must make a genuine contribution to the movement. They partner with a wide variety of actors to make change, including non-profits, foundations, philanthropists, companies, universities, and government.

Oceans 5 - Oceans 5 is an international funders’ collaborative dedicated to stopping overfishing, establishing marine protected areas, and constraining offshore oil and gas development - three of the highest priorities identified by marine scientists around the world.

Fridays For Future - Fridays For Future is a youth-led-and-organized movement that began in August 2018, after 15-year-old Greta Thunberg and other young activists sat in front of the Swedish parliament every schoolday for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. She posted what she was doing on Instagram and Twitter and it soon went viral.

Climate Litigation Network - The Climate Litigation Network is an international project of the Urgenda Foundation. They support organizations, communities and individuals to use litigation to compel national governments to ramp up their climate mitigation ambition.

Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG) - The Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG) was created in response to the climate emergency, as a new advisory group to help inform the public, governments and financial institutions providing them with the most comprehensive science, and more crucially, guiding them towards action for climate repair.
